Acid‐etched Pt/Al‐MCM‐41 catalysts for fuel production by one‐step hydrotreatment of <i>Jatropha</i> oil

Abstract Effective catalysts are indispensable for the preparation of fuel components from vegetable oils via one‐step hydrothermal method. In this study, Pt/MCM‐41 were prepared by etching with sulfuric acid, citric or hydrochloric acid. The performance obtained treatment was evaluated in a fixed‐bed reactor using Jatropha oil as model raw material (temperature = 360°C, liquid hourly space velocity 1 h −1 , hydrogen–oil ratio 1000, and hydrogen pressure 4 MPa). modified characterized X‐ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller analysis, fluorescence spectrometry, temperature‐programmed desorption NH 3 CO chemisorption, pyridine adsorption infrared spectroscopy, respectively. Furthermore, selectivity various components, including C 8 –C 16 alkanes, iso‐alkanes, arenes, 17 18 analyzed based on catalyst characteristics. Acid found to decrease surface area Al‐MCM‐41 but increase amount acid sites, among these acids, proved priority additives, better catalytic performance. Moreover, exhibited best conversion highest selectivities.
